          Location:  Peck Park, San Pedro
                          on Crestwood just east of Western Avenue, large building on the south side of Crestwood

          Texts:  AUXSEA Student Study Guide
                      Chapman's Piloting, Seamanship and Small Boat Handling, 1994 or more recent

 March 4:  Chapter 1:  Terminology, Boat Construction Materials and Steering Gear Types
                 Chapter 2:  Boat Maintenance
                 Chapter 3:  Internal Combustion Engines
                  Prior to class:  Read Study Guide chapters 1, 2 and 3
                                         Read Chapman's as required for Chapter 1 on nautical terms
                                         Complete the study questions for all three chapters
March 11:  Chapter 4:  Marlinspike Seamanship
                  Chapter 5:  Boat Handling
                  Prior to class:  Read the Study Guide
                                         Read Chapman's as noted in Study Guide chapter Introductions.
                                         Complete the Study Guide questions for both chapters.
March 18:  Chapter 6:  Heavy Weather
                  Chapter 7:  Assistance to Boats in Distress and Damage Control
                  Chapter 10:  Duties and Manners
                  Prior to class:  Read the Study Guide
                                         Read Chapman's as noted in Study Guide
                                         Complete the Study Guide questions for all three chapters
March 25:  Chapter 8:  Navigation Rules
                  Chapter 9:  Anchoring
                   Prior to class:  Read the Study Guide outlines and use them as you read Chapman's

                                          Complete the Study Guide questions for both chapters
